When I was in the 3rd grade, I was diagnosed with Clear Cell Sarcoma. This diagnosis truly took a toll on me and my family. We were in and out of doctors appointments constantly, I missed out on playing sports, and just being a kid. Thankfully we had such a great support system that made this time so much better.
Due to everything going on and just life in general, I didn’t get my magic moment until my junior year in high school. My family and I had the opportunity to go to Los Angeles and Hollywood. I am truly so thankful for Magic Moments even being willing to let me have one that many years later. It was such a wonderful experience that was so worth the wait!
We had the opportunity to ride bikes through Venice Beach and Santa Monica, ride horses through the Hollywood sign, and even go to a taping of the “Late Late Show” with James Corden! It was the trip of a lifetime and something I will never forget. This was all possible thanks to Magic Moments. I am even happier to say that this past October I was able to celebrate being 13 years cancer free.
Right now I am a senior in college at The University of Southern Mississippi where I am majoring in nursing. After everything I went through, I knew that I wanted to be a nurse in pediatric oncology. During my treatment, the nurses and medical staff made such a difference in my life. They were so encouraging during such a hard time. They were able to help me forget that I was different from the other kids in my class and were able to provide my family and I with such hope.
I cannot wait to graduate in May and be able to serve and be a light in these children and their families lives. I am so thankful for Magic Moments being there for my family all those years later and I cannot wait to see all that is in store!
Happy birthday Magic Moments!!
