Meet Eli

On November 16, 2019, Eli was on a golf cart ride in his neighborhood with his football teammates. Eli fell off the back hitting his head on the concrete, causing a skull fracture, brain bleed, severe traumatic brain injury and multiple strokes. He was taken by ambulance to Children’s of Alabama where he needed emergency surgery. Eli spent the next 82 days in the hospital in the PICU and rehab unit. His days were spent doing therapy learning to eat, speak, walk and use his left side again.

Before his accident, Eli always wanted to visit New York City. At the 2021 BHM26.2 5K, Eli's friends, family and therapy team all surprised him with his magic moment at the finish line and told him that he would be going to New York City.

While in NYC, Eli was able to watch a Brooklyn Nets basketball game, see the Statue of Liberty and even got to meet AL Roker from the Today Show. Eli said it was a trip he will always remember.

Today, Eli is a senior at Chelsea High School, on track to graduate in May 2024. He continues working to regain everything that he lost, and he does so with a smile and positive attitude.
